Court Appearance for Betting Investment Fraud Suspects

MKC Limited, a gambling firm headquartered in Malta, extends its casino and betting services through its platform, Betworld247. Back in September of the previous year, Holland’s chief gambling authority, Kansspelautoriteit, unveiled that the operator’s website was accessible to Dutch customers who could place bets, even though the company lacked the requisite license.

Consequently, the KSA requested the withdrawal of Betworld247, a brand of MKC, from the regulated Dutch gambling industry. After cautioning the company concerning a potential fine of about $100,000, it was affirmed by the Dutch regulator that MKC has halted its services to customers based in the Netherlands.

Discontinuing services to Dutch customers was not the only setback for the digital gambling operator, however, it’s facing even further action currently, this time imposed by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA). Citing numerous violations of compliance, the MGA announced on Tuesday that they’ve made the choice to rescind MKC Limited’s license.

The MGA public statement of this week reveals that the license revocation is effective from May 4, 2023. In response to this regulatory action, the MGA clarified that the company is no longer sanctioned to operate online gambling activities.

Besides, the Authority instructed that any mention of MGA authorization must be immediately excised from any content by MKC Limited. As per the Malta gambling regulator, the corporation violated various provisions, specifically 9 (1)(c), (d), (i), (l) and section 10 (1)(a) of the set regulations.

“The Authorized Person is thus no longer permitted to undertake any gaming operations, and reference to the Authority and the authorization must be removed instantly,”

The Authority Outlines MKC’s Missteps

Addressing the infringements, the MGA disclosed that MKC did not comply with timely payment of the amounts owed to the MGA. Furthermore, the Authority stated that the company neglected to “fulfill commitments to players promptly” and couldn’t “discharge its financial obligations for its operations”.

The MGA confirmed that MKC wasn’t able to fulfill one or more of its responsibilities as per Maltese law. Considering MKC’s shortcomings concerning the set gambling rules, the Authority indicated that a suspension of the license was the appropriate punitive measure.
