The well-known Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) has just completed the unveiling of its latest 122-room hotel and event center within the famed Terre Haute Casino Resort. The new structure is anticipated to amp up the allure of the Indiana-based property.
Back in June 2022, CDI commenced the commencement of the project in a collaborative initiative with construction experts, Wilhelm Construction. Throughout the creation of the Terre Haute Casino Resort, approximately 1,000 roles in construction were provided, and the completed project is expected to continually offer around 550 part-time and full-time positions in the vicinity.
Earlier this year, doors to the Terre Haute Casino Resort’s massive gaming floor opened, boasting an impressive 400,000 square feet of gaming territory, featuring 1,000 slot machines, 36 gaming tables, and an advanced sportsbook.
Furthermore, guests can indulge in a diverse range of local food and beverage options, such as the Four Cornered Steakhouse, Rockwood Bar & Grill, The Soda Shoppe, Crossroads Center Bar, and the High Limit Bar.
The latest addition of a 122-room hotel and an event center promises to increase the accessibility of the casino, enabling CDI to attract more casino enthusiasts to its establishment.
An Unmatched Experience Awaits Guests
CDI’s top executive, Bill Carstanjen, weighed in on the project, expressing that the venue intends to draw in numerous gamers seeking an incomparable gaming experience.
With the launch of this top-tier hotel, we’ve further demonstrated our dedication to the revitalization of Terre Haute, by delivering a premier entertainment destination. Churchill Downs Incorporated takes pride in this noteworthy achievement.

In other developments, the company has recently finished an extensive renovation of its flagship racetrack, the project was concluded just in time for the current year’s Kentucky Derby. The facelift, which set Churchill Downs back by around $200 million, took three years to complete.
The refurbished racetrack now offers an improved viewing experience of the iconic twin spires and added seating, increasing its accommodation capacity for spectators.
The recent Kentucky Derby was won by Mystik Dan, ridden by jockey Brian Hernandez Junior, in a nail-bitingly close race. Notably, the winning horse was trained by Kenneth G. McPeek, and the race was finished in two minutes and three seconds. The controversial trainer Bob Baffert didn’t have any horses in the race due to his ongoing suspension.
Lastly, Churchill Downs disclosed its Q1 results in April, showcasing a strong start to the year.
