Atlantic City law enforcement officials apprehended a female in possession of a firearm in the vicinity of the Ocean Casino Resort. Further investigation revealed that she was also in possession of numerous bags of heroin, suggesting she had potential intentions to distribute. As a result of her arrest, the individual now potentially faces a prolonged prison term.
27-year-old Jadairah James is a local resident with a criminal history that includes drug-related charges. From their database, the police discovered she was previously held in June for an incident linked to drug abuse, only to be later discharged on a summons.
James, undeterred by her previous arrest, persisted in her unlawful activities. The most recent incident occurred when she brandished a firearm at the entrance to the Ocean Casino Resort property at around 9 pm. A casino security officer spotted her suspicious behavior and alerted the local police department.
Three responding officers, specifically Bao Pham, Brandon Jackson, and Kyle Riordan, who were performing a patrol near the incident site, swiftly reached the scene, halting the cab that James was preparing to take off in.
Upon a thorough inspection, the law enforcement officers unveiled several illegally possessed objects.
Potential Long-Term Incarceration for James
In the taxi, the officers uncovered an illicitly owned handgun, validating the casino security personnel’s account. Moreover, they discovered numerous bags of heroin and several rounds of ammunition, including hollow-point bullets – bullets that present a greater threat due to their lethal characteristics.
Fortunately, James had not used the firearm inside the casino. It remains unclear whether her intention was to sell the heroin to the casino’s patrons.
Nonetheless, the law enforcement officers confiscated the firearm and narcotics. While the primary intent behind James’ actions remains to be determined, it is unequivocally evident she was in possession of an unlicensed firearm, hollow-point bullets, and drugs. Presently, these charges alone could result in severe legal implications for James.
As reported by BreakingAC, the charges that James is currently facing include:
- illegal possession of a firearm
- ownership of tampered firearm
- possession of a weapon during a drug-related offense
- ownership of hollow-point ammunition
- heroin possession
- possession with intent to distribute
- possessing intention to traffic within 500 feet of a public area
During a brief court appearance, James conveyed to Judge Jeffrey Waldman her need to return to her sibling’s residence. She recognized the judge’s inability to grant her request but wanted to convey that all her actions were performed for the benefit of her community.
