A continuing battle between Caliplay and Playtech rages on, with the former entity resorting to legal proceedings in a bid to sever its connection with the supplier.
As a collaborative operation between Playtech and Caliente, a Mexican gaming firm, Caliplay is proactively attempting to remove its dependency on Playtech, a relationship that continues to impact its enterprise negatively.
This move operates in the aftermath of previous courts rulings that necessitated Playtech to persist in supplying software and services to Caliplay despite losing several of the provider’s entitlements. Consequently, Playtech found itself obliged to carry on its operations with Caliplay without the ability to collect payments for its delivered services.
Regardless, Caliplay is optimistic about swift resolution to the disputes. It remains committed to collaboratively work with Playtech in hopes to settle the disagreements.
Playtech Uninformed about the Legal Proceedings
Playtech eventually commented on the recent proceedings, asserting that it remained oblivious of the legal actions in Mexico.
Although Caliplay announced that the Mexican courts affirmed jurisdiction on 28 August 2023, Playtech was only informed about the initiation of proceedings on that day.
Playtech statement
Describing its previous association with Caliplay as “mutually beneficial,” the company acknowledged Caliplay as an “esteemed client.” Playtech also mentioned that it currently lacks access to the court documents and has yet to receive any proceedings.
Playtech wound up by asserting that it would address the situation once it can access the court documents and will update its investors as required.
As a reminder, the initial contention between the two companies stemmed from whether Caliplay could exercise the option to reclaim the additional service fee as stated in the strategic deal that both companies agreed to in 2014.
