Recent reports have highlighted cases of criminal activities within the United States casino circles, ranging from physical confrontations to traffic accidents and child neglect; all tied to improper conduct and in some cases, alcohol-induced misdemeanours.
Alcohol-fuelled Altercation at Casino Ensues in Property Damage Accident
Reports emerged from the Chinook Winds Casino Resort in Oregon, of two women engaging in a physical altercation after excessive alcohol consumption. Despite the clash, both individuals subsequently entered the same vehicle and departed the premises. Unfortunately, the truck then collided with the Lock & Key Adventurer’s Guild, a local game club just a mile away. Significant damage was inflicted upon the club, including a shattered front window and damaged exterior wall.
The vehicle in question was owned by Shailin Moses, 27, who was accompanied by Mary Sanders, 24. Upon further investigation, officers revealed that both women had spent several hours consuming alcohol at the casino prior to the incident.
The investigation further revealed that during the events, their children, aged two and six, were left alone in an apartment.
Subsequent to the events, Moses and Sanders were charged with second-degree child neglect and were both remanded to the Lincoln County Jail. Moses faced additional charges, namely drunk driving, reckless driving, and failure to perform the duties of a driver when a property is damaged.
Repeated Domestic Offender Incarcerated
In other criminal reports, a man from Red Lake was handed down a sentence of 46-months imprisonment followed by 3 years of supervised release, following a violent assault in a room at Minnesota’s Seven Clans Casino. The 55-year old offender, known as Shawn Rene Lussier, reportedly attacked a victim with repeated punches and kicks, effectively causing serious injuries.
The details of the injuries sustained include a one-inch scalp laceration, lip abrasion, and multiple bruises, with associated property damage as a result of the physical altercation.
The sentencing proceeding provided evidence of Lussier’s history of habitual assault, tribal court convictions for Criminal Domestic Violence, and alcohol-related offences. The result was an extended sentence for repeated domestic assault by a habitual offender.
Las Vegas Attorney Murdered at Child Custody Hearing
In a shocking incident, a Las Vegas lawyer and his wife became fatal victims of a shooting incident perpetrated by a gunman during a child custody hearing. The victims, Dennis Prince, 57 and Ashely Prince, 30, were fatally shot by Joseph Houston, 77, who subsequently inflicted the same act of violence upon himself.
Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford expressed his dismay over the tragic incident, praising the late Dennis Prince as a brilliant attorney with an enviable reputation as an effective trial lawyer.
Law enforcement is yet to confirm the motive behind the fatal shooting.
False Emergency Call at Illinois Casino
An incident arising from the Rivers Casino in Illinois involving Jaime Ramos, 23, who reported a shooting incident to law enforcement entailing eight individuals at the casino in Des Plaines.
Officers responded promptly to visit the scene, only to discover no evidence of a shooting incident taking place. Ramos had staged the emergency; inciting false panic after engaging in a dispute with another casino guest.
As a result of his misconduct, Ramos has been charged with disorderly conduct.
