A blaze has tragically occurred at an unauthorized casino in Tijuana, Mexico, resulting in the loss of life. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the fire was initiated by a hit-and-run tactic, where an individual or individuals on a motorcycle threw a Molotov cocktail into the property. The persons responsible promptly fled the location.

Subsequently, the flames spread rapidly, engulfing the casino. Positioned at the crossroads of Pacífico Avenue and Granizo Street in Tijuana’s tourist district, the unauthorized operations of the casino were promptly addressed as firefighters rapidly contained the situation.

Regrettably, the conflagration resulted in two fatalities. Identification of the victims by experts is pending. An additional individual suffered extensive injuries and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The event transpired during the afternoon hours of November 22.

The Authorities Lack Pivotal Leads

Regrettably, local law enforcement has not identified any suspects thus far. The only pieces of evidence available to the authorities are the accounts regarding the motorcycle riders suspected of hurling the incendiary device.

Presently, the case is under investigation by the Baja California’s prosecution office. However, as of now, no substantial evidence has surfaced. The authorities are also grappling with whether the initial intention was to harm an individual or damage the property.

Given its geographical locale as a border city, Tijuana has a historic connection with organized crime sinisterly lurking under the surface, leading to speculation that the incident may have ties to gang-related conflicts. Should this be the case, it will not be an isolated instance of violent acts committed by competing cartels against each other.

Regrettably, Tijuana’s strategic location has served as a breeding ground for heightened levels of organized illegal activities. The city is infamous for its frequent cartel movements and associated criminal activities, including unlawful gambling and human trafficking, amongst others.

Unfortunately, the blaze at the Tijuana casino does not represent the singular instance of casino arson nationally. In a related incident in September, law enforcers apprehended the leading figure of a local cartel, held to be accountable for the catastrophic Casino Royale fire in Monterrey.
