A man hailing from Oklahoma has been handed a life sentence in prison following the murder of a man who made a light-hearted boast about a casino win. The perceived winner was, in fact, devoid of funds, spurring the rage of the murderer.
In October 2020, Kevin Marvell Jackson, aged 22 at the time, attended a gathering at a home in Muskogee with his romantic partner named Natalie McMahon. At the event, he made the acquaintance of the victim, Bradley Dillon,19, and another individual known as Dakota Berryhill.
At some point, Dillon and Berryhill exited the party and journeyed to the Creek Nation Casino Muskogee, a reputable gaming spot locally. While en route back to the gathering, they dialled some friends and bantered that they had won $10,000.
Stimulated by the thought of easy money, Jackson, without taking a moment to evaluate the plausibility of Dillon’s and Berryhill’s claim on a cash prize, planned to rob the pair. In haste, Jackson procured a firearm and concealed his identity with a ski mask. He then laid in wait to surprise the duo when they arrived and surprised them as they disembarked from their vehicle.
It was then that Jackson discovered that the men were devoid of any monetary winnings. Infuriated, he menaced them with his weapon, ordering them to drive to an automated teller machine in an attempt to withdraw cash. At this point, a terrified Berryhill, in fear for his safety, reentered the vehicle and fled, abandoning his companion Dillon. In a state of anger and frustration, the murderer took Dillon’s life, shooting him five times.
